The reason why TOR fails is that it attempts to fix a problem that MMOs never had to begin with. Story was the last concern any gamer actually had.

You don't need an NPC to befriend in WoW because MMOs are games where you play with other people. In an MMO I should be experiencing my own story, made through PVP and Exploration. Not having the game go through a premade Disneyland style dark ride where I have no choice of what happens.

To focus on the story is utterly stupid and only appeals to a minority of gamers. They should have focused on PVP and letting players interact with the world. It's fucking hilarious that SWG allowed players to build their own cities and yet TOR has none of that cool customization.

Also, it pains me to think they could have made a fantastic game. They could have done so much and had so many people playing for so long and actually making an MMO that by the very fact it was Star Wars keep people playing a long, long time. All they had to do was take WoW, spruce it up a bit, and add a few star wars themed elements to it, and it would have been GREAT.

Kreia needed to be there.

That scene where she defends the Exile from the council is fucking god tier. They're about to strip the Exile of her Force connection, so what does Kreia do? Kreia doesn't just kill them. She removes their connection to the force, violently and terribly, and the sudden shock of that removal kills them all.

She killed them by doing exactly what they were going to do to the Exile, though, in the Council's defense, they would have used Jedi methods that were more careful than Kreia's methods in an attempt not to harm the Exile.

However if you read other extended universe you'd also factor in that you can still die as a result of force severance even through the more careful Jedi Methods, it's just more rare.

Kind of like there are babies that die from circumcision, but no one cares because it's rare, even though even a 1% death rate out of billions of people would mean an amount of people that would put mass slaughter on the streets to shame.

One of the first things you see in the game is that she mingled with the Sith, and from that point on EVERYTHING she says is horseshit. She blatantly lies to you and tries to manipulate you.

Force Unleashed 1 I enjoyed, but I don't even consider Force Unleashed 2 as it was just a cash in. Starkiller pulling a Star Destroyer out of the sky was just a really dramatic statement of "Size matters not, judge me by my size do you?". The only places where Jedi/Sith were able to drain away someone's life, is in EU Circlejerks like KotOR II (remember, game mechanics are not considered for canonicity, but cut scenes and plot of the game are. If a character in a game uses a "life drain" skill as a game mechanic, that doesn't matter, unless it's used as a plot device the way Nihilus did)

Revan yes, but he never used both in tandem (in the plot, remember, game mechanics are a different thing). He was Jedi, then he fell to the Dark Side, became Sith, and tried to overrun the Republic. KotOR 2 Retconning this into some horse shit about him trying to prepare the galaxy for war (considering it'd just come out of the Mandalorian war) was stupid and deserved to get retconned right back.

I think KotOR had a great Star Wars story, KotOR 2 doesn't have a Star Wars story (and my judgement of it as a story on its own basis is clouded by the fact that it tries to be a Star Wars story and fucks up royally at that), and TOR has hit and miss everywhere. Some things about some of the class storylines are good, others, are fucking terrible.
