Aside from a few visual kicks the game didn't really have a Dollars Trilogy vibe. You guys are very western casual. I bet you didn't even notice the Magnificent Seven homage prior to the assault on Fort Mercer.

I actually felt red dead redemption to be really skimpy in the story department, the first half of the game they really dont develop any characters, or the main character, or anything.

I hope they release a sequel and actually spend some more time on it, still RDR Is a great game.

But when i just take a boat to mexico and 400 mexicans come at me for no reason and I kill them all with no worries, then "Far Away" comes on, i was exactly emotionally affected. The song was amazing, andriding the countryside to it was fun, but i only wish they had something actually emotionally pulling hapened before they used such a dynamite song

oh btw

Whatever the next Red Dead is they'll probably roll it back to the period between 1850 and 1890. If they time it right they might even be able to have a young John Marston cameo.

My bet is that they roll it to Landon Ricketts youth and go full on Magnificent Seven meets El Dorado meets Dollars. Maybe even throw in some True Grit(original mode though).

It's a bunch of political intrigue and culture for the first 1/3 of the movie then a sort of intellectual battlefield chess chasemaster for the next 1/3 then the last 1/3 is pretty much one gigantic brutal nonstop fight culminating into a very satisfying ending.

>>95124840

That sounds amazing only I didn't really take a liking to Landon. His voice reminded me off Stan Lee and his disco pants threw me off. That's the biggest thing that bothered me, the clothing looked ridiculously small or too wide like around the bottom of the pants.

I don't usually like my character this obviously bad guy, especially when I might try to play the good guy.
He was jaded enough to do the good and the bad with some exceptions.
The worse problem with the game was the lack of use for money and the stuff you couldn't do.
I mean, you can't rob the passing by train in a western game? Really?

The disco pants thing kind of fit as well as the rest of weird outfits. Remember Red Dead Redemption was in 1911 and 1910-1920 had some fucking weird ass fashions before the full fashion scene of the roaring 20s.

Rolling it back with a young Landon or even just in that time period allows for the game to be set in the old west with guns that people won't be bored of and it gets to be a time of "legends."

It would be cool if there were posse missions though where we'd have to recruit a posse for a section of the game. RDR really missed out on that.

This is where I think Rockstar went wrong with the story. 1911? The only move they can make now is if they go back in time with a prequel. If not then they'll ruin the whole aspect of the series going into the future with Jack Marston.

only things RDR needs to become the perfect game:
-more gun and weapon choices. a few more revolvers would not hurt and maybe some indian weapons like the bow or something
- more in depth bounty missions. include tracking( find an old camp, look for tracks, ask the locals, etc.) and have "most wanted" outlaws that are extremely good and have famous gangs that actually effect the world where they go (ie scared townfolk and such)
- a few other immersion factors. pack horses, more fun saloons, whores, the ability to recruit gang/posse members
- and lastly, make your fame mean something. if you are really good with an iron, make other people who are also really good want to duel. if you are known to be good at evading law, get famous lawmen/bounty hunters on your trail.
-better map. it was alright, but a little more variety would be nice. blackwater area was a little too small for how huge a change of scenery it was

these things would be amazing. RDR was great on its own, but these are just the things i would tack on to make it better.
in fact i would buy a red dead sequel if they just kept the base game and JUST added like half of these things

Godspeed, my man.

I bought RDR a while ago, played it for a bit but didn't get immediately attached to it. A few weeks ago, I was trying to sell my Xbox when I realized I hadn't beaten the game, so I played it marathon-style. I got a bunch of deals on my Xbox, but turned them all down because I had to finish that fucking game.

You know what would be amazing? A two part Red Dead set before Redemption.

The beginning is the story of a rugged but charismatic side show gunslinger, the son of the best card player East of the Mississippi. The father retires, planning to head to California, but falls in love with a show girl in New Mexico or Texas and ends up opening a saloon there. His father is brutally murdered when the son finally arrives by the woman's brother thus begins the revenge quest.

After that's done the second half skips five to ten years later and the main character is a US Marshal. Basically it turns into the law side of a western.

The games ends with the main character being the first person John Marston kills and you dead eye as you're dying and give John the bad eye and some of the scars.

Someone mention Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid? Recently watched that and decided to pop RDR back in. All I did for that whole hour was rob banks all throughout the U.S and Mexico and I only save during camp, at night.

Not because it was the first time I saw it but because John rode out of the snow into the pouring rain. When he arrived at home the rain ended and the moon came out. The part where him and Abigail hug had the camera in the right place to see the full moon through broken clouds.

Anywho, Griff is there and at the end of the level they find Nate's partner who tells them where to find the other part of the map, or whatever it was.

if you play the main story and in between missions just do ONE diversion (not the random encounters. i mean like a bounty or a side mission or even a challenge) the game can last at least twice as long as any other sandbox game out there

the thing i liked about RDR over GTA series is that there was a clear end goal.
from mission 1 you know exactly what you are working for.

GTA just kind of sweeps you up into the bullcrap. the only reason you do the things you do is because your character simply says "yeah sure. lets do that"

with red dead you know that every bullcrap thing you do for someone you just met, is working 1 step closer to getting to your family.
not only that, but john marston actually gets frustrated with the side crap and lets people know it.

it really helps you get invested in the story when you actually feel like you are making some progress towards a final goal when you are helping west dickins sell snake oil...

Although Vice City's original plot resolves quickly and they have to make a new one; but it was pretty much Scarface with a white guy anyway.
Tommy is figuring out who stole his coke.
CJ is looking for his mom's killer.
Niko is looking for his old squad mates.

All ''Stranger'' missions were kind of messed up, think about it.

pretty much
there is not a single quality i dislike about john marston.

only thing i don't really like is the fact that your behavior in game does not effect his personality.
-100 honor and you are still helping bonny herd cattle and hunting bandits? there should have been more focus on the other side of the coin.
being bad should have equal or greater short term rewards as opposed to being good considering how badly the game punishes you

At negative honor you insult people instead of tipping your hat and greeting them.
Eh.

i suppose, but after I kill 40 people, loot their bodies and skin their horses, then sell what i find the next town over, then rob the guy i just sold to...
you would think I would not be so concerned with saving a dying old man out in the desert and bringing him into town, or helping landon rickets save a stage coach...

i dunno, i suppose i can't expect them to rewrite the entire story in case i decide to be a bad guy considering how long and in depth it is. but i would have liked to see at least more of an attitude or disregard for wellbeing
