Except his callous disregard for anyone other than himself and mr incredible pretty much caused the entire suppression of superheroes.

Because he acted like he was ENTITLED to interfere, bom voyage got away, an entire train full of people almost died, and the idea that superheroes weren't worth the good they could do for the trouble they caused was given an extreme amount of credence.

His plot wasn't some sort of mental break, it was consistent with how the character was established. Callous, self-centered, egotistical, short-sighted, and reckless.
