Annoyed, Wikus asked Christopher, who was working a bit far off on the alien machinary, "Why the fook is your kid following me around?"

Christopher, who only gave a cursory glance to Wikus and little CJ attached to him, off-handedly said, "He likes you, that's why," and went back to doing whatever the fuck he was doing.

"Well, why the fook does he like me? I can't move my arm because of the little bugger!"

To that, Christopher only gave a preoccupied grunt. Deciding to change tactics, Wikus instead glanced down to the little alien who was still decidedly attached to his sleeve.

"Look, kid," Wikus said, exasperated, "why the fook do you like me?"

"Because," said the little alien in a patient tone as if it were one of those obvious things grown-ups did /not/ get, "you're not mean to daddy and me like the other humans. And look! We look alike!" CJ held his small forearm against Wikus' bigger transformed one.

"They're fooking disgusting." The comment left Wikus' mouth almost automatically. Wikus' face distorted in disgust at the little sprawn pointing out such a disgusting likeness, but immediately regretted it as he saw the little sprawn's face fall. Little CJ unclenched his fists and shuffled off away from Wikus, eyes trained to his feet. /Shit,/ Wikus thought guiltily, /it's just a kid, sprawn or not. Don't be a prick to the kid, Wikus./

"Fook, kid. I didn't mean that."

Wikus turned around for the fifth time as he felt the prickling sensation of having someone's eyes on his back. This time, that certain someone was the little spawn. As soon as Wikus turned around, the said little alien turned away, pretending (and failing) to look preoccupied with the impromptu toy trucks he made out of the wooden debris scattered on the floor. This was getting annoying.

"What do you want, kid."

The little alien looked up from his failed pretense of looking preoccupied and merely shook his head. His little pinchers twitched in a nervous fashion as if he were internally debating something.

"Kid, spit it out."

What was with the guy who was arrested at the end for uncovering MNU's ILLEGAL genetic lab.

Just then, Wikus remembered that the aliens were hermaphrodites. The little kid won't understand the concept of gender. /And,/ Wikus thought as he observed the little alien's hunched shoulders and eyes trained to the feet again, /he probably thinks I'm just going around the long way to reject him, that poor little bugger./

Wikus sighed internally and cursed the little kid for being so unintentionally manipulative.

"Fine, kid, I'll be whatever the fook you want me to be."

CJ's green eyes lit up in joy and the young alien spontaneously ran up to the human male, hugging his legs, his two short arms not quite reaching all the way around yet. The hug took Wikus entirely by surprise, but it wasn't... bad.

Maybe he could get used to his new nickname.

He may have known a few things about his own people’s technology, but when it came to the basic fundamentals of human anatomy, he was clueless. He could only guess that having your knee caps disconnect to bend backwards to support the weight of a spin that was about to twist itself in the opposite direction was probably something no living thing would want to go through. At least not while alive.

The human deserved it though. Christopher’s cricket-like face quickly turned to anger and glared at his work as his mind recalled his one true friend skinned and being cut open in the lab they just invaded. And for what? Weapons. Weapons where the only things these humans seemed to care about. The dark skinned ones in there area proved that day in and day out.
All humans would deserve whatever was coming to them, be it from their own stupidity or their mindless cruelness.

Christopher’s antennas jerked a bit when he heard the man behind him throw up violently vomited on the dirty ground. He heard a few “Oh God. Oh God!”

The man’s consent groaning and moaning was getting more pained by the minute, and it was getting harder to keep focus on his work.

What was worse, was his son wouldn’t stop staring with sorrow at the transforming hybrid.

“Leave him alone.” His father would click at him loudly to be heard over Wikus’ torture. CJ, as the human somewhat dubbed him lazily, only inched slower to him.

“I mean it.” His father barked at him, but CJ was already close enough to pick through Wikus’ thrown up insides. Looked like his internal organs where making room for the new bone structure to his body and wanted to leave the body. Most importantly, his pearly white teeth shown brightly through the mess.

CJ looked up at Wikus’ who would like nothing more than to be put out of his misery right now and left alone to rot. The little creature picked up one of long looking canines and fiddled with it in his three fingers.

Wikus spat out some blood and grabbed it from the thing.

“Stop it.” CJ thought he tired to sound a lot more angry than how it came out, but being sick didn’t help it when it came out sounding tired and defeated.

CJ however, picked up another one from the pile of puke, and brought it closer to himself to Wikus couldn’t snatch it back. Not that he looked like he had the strength to do it again.

CJ clicked up at him eagerly, looking down at his newly found treasure.

“You have a piece like me,” He pointed to the man’s arm that didn’t match the rest of his body. “And I have a piece like you.”

Wikus frowned deeply. That was the last thing he wanted, to have something else in common with these aliens that brought this upon him. And like the child that CJ was, struck the freshly uprooted mouler into his own Prawn mouth and let his tongue fiddle around with the little thing.

Despite everything, Wikus couldn’t help but smile just the smallest bit, when CJ’s eyebrows flew up unexpectedly and he spit our the nasty thing. No matter weather you are human or Prawn, the taste of blood and vomit didn’t taste good to anyone. Wikus’ only managed to frown again as the though of his beautiful wife came to his mind and the children he wouldn’t have with her…The thought didn’t last long when some sort of dirty glass jar filled his vision. He looked up to see Christopher offering it to him, a stern look on his face.

“This helps when he,” He casted down his own gaze to his son, who was still spitting a bit trying to get that taste out of his own mouth. “does not feel well.”

“What is it?…”

“Does it matter?”

…Wikus grabbed the glass jar. No, it didn’t. Unless the gray looking water would turn him back to human, it really didn’t matter what he put down his throat. Wikus took a swig of it and let in drain into, what he hoped he still had, his stomach.

“Father always makes me feel better. He’ll make you feel better too.”

Christopher slowly looked back at Wikus again with sadness, and Wikus didn’t break eye contact.

“I know he will.”

The Prawn went back to work.
