It's really just a collection of essays by writers to help people improve their writing. A semi-textbook, if you will, yet it's themed on analyzing American culture, so all of the essays are really, really interesting and eye-opening. It was my textbook for a required composition class I had to take in college and the only textbook I didn't sell back to the store at the end of the class because it's just too damn interesting.

The book is poorly reasoned, frequently misrepresents much of its source material, and makes leaps of causality beyond even the norm for evolutionary psychology (a field not well known for testable hypotheses).

Worse yet is that it's a departure from an otherwise interesting body of scholarship. Putting aside MacDonald's frequently cited work about topics other than Jews, his first two books on Judaism were excellent. CoC is just shoddy scholarship. There's a reason it's the work responsible for exiling MacDonald into the wilderness of vanity publishing houses, and it has nothing to do with some sort of conspiracy.
