I have an entire bookshelf filled with three-ring binders of this shit. All of it I printed by going to the computer room at the local community college and printing it out for free; I just tell them it's for an assignment when they bitch about how much paper/ink I'm using and they leave me alone. You're supposed to show a student ID to get in to the computers, but I always slip in when the guy is distracted or when he leaves the room for a minute. Once you're inside, they assume you're supposed to be there, especially if you have a backpack and other student paraphenalia (handy for carrying shitloads of printed manuals). This won't affect anything (unless you use the same printer to print, say, a bomb threat or some stupid shit), but every printer leaves its serial number on every sheet of paper it prints. It's tiny and nearly invisible, but cops can look for the code printed on each sheet of paper to ID the printer, telling them the brand and serial number. They go to the manufacturer and look up who that printer got shipped to, see if they can get the sale history on the printer (like if you paid for it via credit card), and can possibly track you from there.

At the very least, they can prove you printed something if you use your personal printer.

Dude I had the cops do a safety check on me once because my mom is a bitch like that. I literally had a stack of bomb making manuals like Anarchist Cookbook, PMJB, and some other shit that would be questionable with a .357 magnum and a 1911 loaded on my coffee table next to them.
