I really like her voice, and I'd like to listen more to her.

How do I start? Where's all her music?
>> Anonymous 10/03/11(Mon)15:47 No.7949908
You don't know what a vocaloid even is.

You make music with her, she doesn't make music.

There should be a 40-50gb batch torrent on nyaa.eu if you want to go all out. The Vocaloid wikia has lists of notable/popular songs, if you'd rather go that route.

Just pick the most famous songs and search for the songs from the same producer of those you like.
From my head the most popular producers:
supercell (guitar based jpop)
Deco*27, OsterProject, Hachi, Mothy (jpop)
Cosmo (eletropop)
Sasakure.UK (electronic/chiptune)
AvTechNO, ODA (techno/trance)
Wowaka (rock)
>> Anonymous 10/03/11(Mon)16:03 No.7949955
Easy way : download and listen to every commercial compilations, mostly from exit tunes, try to find who made the songs you like
Another way : listen to random stuff on youtube and nico
Hard way : download a huge torrent or whatever you find and listen to everything
Spoonfed way : tell about your music tastes music in general, and ask nicely for some recommandations

A thread on /jp/ where people are nice and helpful regarding something Vocaloid related? Haven't seen one of these in a while. All these kind anons have pretty much told you all I would. Definitely look at those charts they posted.

Another good site to check out is http://mikudb.com/. They have tons of albums you can download. Just listen to a bunch. After a while, you'll start to get a sense for it. The more time you invest in it, the more you'll understand.

The day will come when you'll start listening to a new Miku song and before checking who made it you'll think to yourself "I bet this was made by X." and sure enough you'll be right.

What are some good more experimental vocaloid producers? Pop, metal and rock isn't usually my kind of music. I remember hearing this jazz-y Miku ballad once that sounded like it was recorded underwater, and it was pretty cool...

How experimental are we talking about?
Something like this?

I don't know many experimental music, just some slightly different music styles and some that uses simple vocaloid features difficult with real singers like high speed singing, robotic sounds, multiple singing at the same time, non stop singing...

I just tested it with a couple of my friends, and they didn't realize it was artificial. Of course, I guess a real test should be with Japanese people, but still.

Well, yes... (same as downloading anime/eroge/doujin games...)
But don't bother about that (It would be nice buying the one you really like considering that vocaloid producers are basically indie musicians)
Alternatively there are some producers completely against selling vocaloid music, and many musics are free.
In my case I download lots of music but also buy all my favorites producers cds (or digital download in last case)

I heard random "industrial" songs in youtube (forgive me if I don't got the genre). Vocaloid is strong in eletronic, but the vocals are not really appropriated yet for punk/rock music. Here are some vaguely similar (again mostly guessing).

Try this if you didn't already have it in your playlist.
It covers some of the popular vocaloid songs out there.

Some song/producers I like not listed (but not really obscure):

X-Plorez - Epidemic Girl, Mikunologie
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D24YSAqMpE4

Sunzriver-P (already mencioned, but Tower of Sunz really deserves to be seen)

SoMa/ユミソラ - The Ending World, and the Final Us.

No.D - Screen Shot

Ayuzu Hiko - Game of Life

beside some famous but maybe not classic, noboru-P (chain girl was one of the songs that got me in vocaloid) and Owata-P (which recently released the new song in the benzene series, luka's tolueno)

Requires a bit of crash course to read anything recognizable as a conversation.

The lot of tweets containing "RT" (retweet) are just rebroadcasting original comments from the OP to that persons followers and may contain a comment of their own.
@ proceeding with a name is an ID.
# proceeding with a subject is more or less a browsable channel.

Wow, thanks so much, guys! Before this thread, the only songs I'd heard was Freely Tomorrow, Mikku Miku ni Shite Ageru, and some half-good version of the nyanyanya song. I feel ashamed now, for not knowing about the massive library of vocaloid songs. I am humble to all of your knowledge. And I'm sorry for being a newfag to all of this.

I've listened to every song listed here. Some I liked, some I didn't, but I'm glad I listened to all of them anyway.

So thanks guys! Keep posting of course, I'm sure we can make this an interesting Miku thread if we want.

In return, hot Miku. (This is allowed, right?)

Yes, the strong point of vocaloid is that there are thousand of artists and hundred of thousands of songs, so it's likely that you'll end liking at least some.
Here are some famous good ones:

jimmy-thumb/OneRoomP - no logic
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCGCph1reCQ

40mP - Leftbehind City
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6s2Pk_AySTU

Hachi - Matryoshka
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JGaQ3g8WU4

Yuuyu-P - Deep Sea Girl
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-y-jhTnb2A

Sasakure.uk - *hello, planet (also the prequels and the alternate version in the same album)

>>7952484 here.
If you liked some of the songs I've listed, go look for these;

Nostalogic - yuukiss
ダンシング☆サムライ - mothru
風のただいま - つやつやP
トリノコシティ - 40mp
となりのカミサマ - くちばしP
ダブルラリアット - アゴアニキP
天国へ行こう - きくお

Seek out the works by those producers if you want more of the same genre of works. These producers must never be overlooked.

A decent intro to Vocaloid music thread. I am pleased. Can we agree that Vocaloid is /jp/ related?

I've always stood by Vocaloid being /jp/ related. Miku's definitely not /a/, so, why not?

Lets stop before we attract the dispute masters.

I agree. Unfortunately, saying it is tends to attract holic-tier faggots, so it's better to say it isn't.

Further lists;

Producer: さつき が てんこもり
ウインク·トランジ·スター
チョコレートは人体に対してこんなにも危険!
STOMP THE ENEMY
お断りします

Producer: EasyPop
ハッピーシンセサイザ
なきむしのはつこい
Pretty much everything on the album ハートフルシーケンス

Producer: ラマーズP
矢印の指す方へsolidcompver.
もう5時か……

Finally, an album recommendation;
シュミックトリガ!-New wave of A-POP-

It encompasses a wide variety of genres and by producers mostly unknown in the western world. If you've been exploring enough on Youtube, you might recognize 恋人サンディは明後日笑う by 盛るP, the same producer of High Sense Nonsense song.

That's probably all from me for now. I wish that there are more appreciators for lighthearted pop(some bordering on the denpa genre) songs here to share their treasures. I don't really know why am I not attracted to heavier songs and the like.

Well done /jp/, this is the sort of faggot you're now attracting.

Pretty much inevitable that /jp/ will turn into what /a/ is now.

You'd better get out quick so that you can keep the memories of /jp/ as it once was, not the shithole it's about to become.
