Don't get the 580, moot. Even if you have the money or it's not your money you're spending it's still a waste. 6970 and 570 preform basically the same for $100 less. The 6950 which is even less is barely any performance different from the 570. 560 ti is also acceptable.

If color accuracy doesn't count much you can go cheaper, but LCD monitors are a race to the bottom. The Samsung monitors are good for a few years, then the caps regulating power blow, you have to dissect the monitor and resolder good caps (go with Rubycon) and reassemble...

Or you can buy a decent monitor rather than the cheapest one of the same spec.
