40 KB Cartoons we can't remember the name of. Anonymous 03/13/12(Tue)17:30 No.34989119
When I was a kid, I watched a show show about a monastery where there was a warrior monk, said person had to find a sword to fight some invaders or something. Everyone in the show were animals. It was a cartoon.

Describe some shows you can't remember the name of perhaps we can all help each other.

I'd suggest reading Mouse Guard instead if you're still looking for fantasy mice stories.

It was a 3D looking cartoon, where the characters were robots and there was a small boy. I remember one of the robot's name was Zero and they ate riceballs or some shit.

Here's one.

Shown early 90s in the UK (probably an 80s rerun from the animation style), girl with red hair who started off each episode by eating a red or green root, I think one made her grow and the other shrink or something? Pretty sure talking animals were involved as well. Watched this when I was pre-school age or thereabouts (born in '87) so I'm hazy on the details.

>> Anonymous 03/13/12(Tue)18:31 No.34989231
Okay, it was a complete Star Wars rip-off. I saw it in 3D at the theater when I was a kid in '84 or '85. There was this teen who was a slave and he finds a magic sword or something. Then he finds a Han Solo-type guy that kinda looks like Humphrey Bogart and he has a space ship that can talk. They help each other fight this Darth Vader type guy who, I think, ended up being a robot. What I remember most was that there was a lot of cussing in it and I never saw that in a cartoon at the time.

I can't remember the name of these two cartoon shorts( I think they were made by Canada)

The first is about fire. It starts off with the beginning of man as cavemen discover fire from a lighting bolt. Some other stuff happens. Then it fast forwards to the future where a spark plug sparks and causes a huge fire that catches the building and city on fire and people are screaming.

The second is about some scientist that creates a box that destroys him and teleports him to the next box. Later everyone in town except the scientist's love wants to try it out.

A weird movie about 2 astronauts (I don't think we actually see their faces) who visit a strange crystalline planet, meet a strange green humanoid alien woman, and the movie ends really suddenly. Seem to recall it being on Sky in the UK on one of the movie channels. One of the astronaut guys got wounded I think at some point.

All I remember about the style is that it was incredibly well animated (but not well drawn), clearly european in origin from the strangeness of it, and it was very much like Les Maitres Du Temps/Time Masters visually. Could have been French or Russian?

Family with a dog. I don't remember what it looked like, but it sometimes had episodes about it. The father was a big, fat guy with black hair and I think a green shirt or sweater vest. The mother was a redhead, or something close. They had at least two kids. The eldest was a boy named Trevor/ There was a robot (I think he built it?) that called him "T-vor" instead and he hated it. I think it was on Teletoon years ago.

There was this show with school kids vs. a small fat villain guy (possibly with a rat minion?) The only thing I remember clearly is that there was one episode where the school gets modified to sync up with the villain's body somehow (weird things happening to the school must have been a regular plot point) and the kids unwittingly make him stronger by training the immune system.

Something a friend had on a VHS.. almost certainly a Japanese animation, probably from the mid 80s, dubbed in English. There was a family of people with a big mech, which I think turned into a ship of some kind, and at some point there's a fight with another transforming mech. Only other specific detail I can remember is there are two boxy looking robots (human size) in blue and pink, at some point when the kids are left at the base, they steal the robots' "shells" and dress up as them in order to sneak aboard the mech/ship. That's about all I can remember, only saw it once when I was 6, nearly 20 years ago.

Ok so there was this old french-canadian cartoon. It was about a woman in her early 20's(?) who lead a really neurotic life. All the characters looked like pencil doodles, kind of like the redbull commercials.

I only remember it cause it had tits in one episode. I think when she went to the community pool.

This 1 in the 90s, the villains were modeled after the Borg, but were Earth-based and a little more action cartoon styled. They assimilated a dog at 1 point but it didn't work and it joined the heroes. The villains' leader used to be a friend of the leader of the heroes or was his brother. The villains consisted of 2 guys and a woman and the guy who wasn't the leader acted a bit uncharacteristically dumb for a guy with the computer and science knowledge he was supposed to have.

Here's the box one mate. It's called To Be.

I've got one. Saw it back in the early-to-mid 90s. Not entirely sure it was for kids though. Had to do with a crew of a ship exploring space. The style was extremely simplistic, and aside from the cynical captain character and generic broad I only remember a character who had a fuckton of heads.

The episode I remember involved one of them being infected with a parasitic worm that ate their memories, with the worm crawling around an office (their mind I guess) and eating papers (memories) from filing cabinets.

Here's one. I think it used to be on the Sci-Fi channel, in the mornings, back when they played cartoons in the mornings. Can't remember the whole cast, but I think it was about a group of high school students in the future, who fell into some weird pink liquid, that changed them. I remember the lead guy, who was a jock/football player I think, who could shoot his head off like a rocket. There was a monkey or something as well, that transformed when he ate bananas. I've only seen like one episode, or parts of an episode, but I know this existed. Was back in the early 90's.

This is gonna be vague as fuck, but here goes.
First thing to note is I guess, "Red Rover" Sticks out in my head.
It was a show on around the time of samurai pizza cats and I only remember one scene where a guy in a red armor suit thing that wasn't really power rangers but more like a space suit or something was standing in a room near an opening outside, like a balcony. It was a cartoon and I didn't have nickelodeon or cartoon network then so it might not have been any of those shows.

Maybe all of the main characters had their own color or something, I don't know. Fuck it could have been a dream.

Once you figure out the timeframe, get some charts and start watching.

The list per year isn't as bad as you might think. I have anime lists for entire years and it's significantly less in the 90's as it is now obviously so we might have the same luck with cartoons.

It's not Fantastic Planet. I'm sure i'd have remembered gigantic creepy blue bald people for the whole of my childhood, haha.

A russian animation fan linked me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XF8__eovFz0&feature=related recently, which reminds me of the movie in question so damn much. It had a similar smoothly animated but somewhat melty-looking style to it, and the astronauts look similar.

Sorry for the double post, too. Sky showed a lot of weird ass cartoons on its movie channels. Some were Harmony Gold-ized versions of anime shows stitched together into a movie length. I'm sure they showed the OLD Totoro dub too.

There were two kinda-humanoid animals in it. They were yellow and had a long nose or snout. I think they made a little dance and rubbed their snouts together and it would produce fire or lightning.

not a cartoon but a comic?

so there's a Superman story where he "dies", and the only other things I remember about it are: it was published (as a reprint) sometime in the mid-late 1980s, there was a giant tornado that was responsible for his "death" somehow, and the tornado was "alive" I guess, and when he "died" he was on trial in a courtroom where all the jurors were zombies

it was the only comic with Superman I ever read (that I remember) as a kid, and I have no fucking clue what it was, can't seem to figure it out from wikipedia synopses of stories from back then

anyone?

The first is about fire. It starts off with the beginning of man as cavemen discover fire from a lighting bolt. Some other stuff happens. Then it fast forwards to the future where a spark plug sparks and causes a huge fire that catches the building and city on fire and people are screaming.

The second is about some scientist that creates a box that destroys him and teleports him to the next box. Later everyone in town except the scientist's love wants to try it out.

This wasn't really a show per se, but there were little shorts presented of it...

It was on Fox Family probably. Before it turned into ABC Family. There was one where some guy took home groceries for an older lady and ate some sort of nuts that were in her pantry and it ends up that the old lady sucked all the chocolate off of the nuts and that's what he was eating.

And another where there was some scary guy/thing with a hook for a hand that scared a guy and girl who were at a makeout point kind of location.

I don't know if these had a name, but I'd like to see them again.

The memory has degraded over time to a barely-recalled impression, but I remember I used to have a VHS of a very strange cartoon. The two protagonists were children, I think, and the antagonist dressed in black and may have had a bumbling assistant? There was some visiting of magical places or peoples, I think. God I wish I could remember more, this used to bother the heck out of me because I couldn't remember what it was called, and now I can't even remember a lot about it. This description must be pretty much useless.

Alternatively, and slightly off topic, does anyone remember a movie called Ninja the Wonder Boy? I want to watch that again pretty bad, but all of my VHSes are gone gone gone.

a 3D cartoon. The hero was a muscular, blonde teen male. Might have had a catch phrase. Came out after transformers, beast wars was established. Way after reboot. Think it aired on the WB, for sure it did not air on cartoon network.

The villain was the exact same guy, only with the skin of his face removed, revealing a metal skull.

I never watched it, but people look at me like I'm crazy when I try to describe it to them.

The ONLY part I remember, is during some commercial the showed the hero saying something along the lines of "you're gonna kill us all!" And the villain replying exactly "maybe that's why they call me PSYCHO!"

Okay, this was a show that was on in the early to mid 90's. Aired on, like, channel 2 in my area. Same local network affiliate that showed stuff like Mighty Max.

Protagonist was a blonde boy, maybe wore a backwards cap, had a vest over a buttoned-up shirt. He had a monster that lived in his closet that I think was maybe blue and green, might have been named "Boo." They might have had adventures with other monsters or something...?

I only remember one episode, which was about the kid being caught in layers upon layers of nightmares to the point where he couldn't wake up.

Here's a hard one: This is a cartoon I rented a video of from the library a few times as a kid. The main character (and maybe the title?) was a kid named Davey who wore glasses and maybe had a backpack. He had a dog and a few other animal sidekicks. The opening sequence from this video had Davey marching in place while his animals floated on bubbles around him, I seem to recall.

He and his animals were in the jungle by themselves and had to rescue a bunch of small aliens that looked like Gleep and Gloop from The Herculoids from this sexy evil lady who wore sunglasses.

I think it was a short movie or something I don't think it was a show.

A bear is an asshole and acts all angry to this one little bear that stumbled upon him. The cub has a mother and at some point the cub gets trapped in the middle of the water and he's going to drown

The asshole bear it turns out is an asshole because his own cub died the same way. Something happens and they all live happily ever after.

It was a 3D show, where the characters were all insects; it came out a few years before A Bug's Life, so I know it's not the same thing: the protagonists were ants, I think, and they were brown; it was pretty serious in tone, overall.

In France, it aired in the late 90s.

Okay, I've got one.

Cartoon starts with two kids (they look like they might not be caucasian, but I could be mistaken) wondering about something.

A little female fairy appears to awnser their question, the fairy is the main focus of the cartoon. She has pink hair that also serves as her hands. She travels back in time to some famous inventor or genius at the moment of a breakthrough. To help explain their invention or theory. At the end of the episode she returns to the kids.

I remember there being a episode with Charles Darwin and one about the rosetta stone.

Had to have been made pre-90s.

Anyone?

Cartoon on the verge of 3d animation.

There were two groups of people fighting in mechs on some planet or asteroid. At some point one of the mechs got upgraded with a new system that would show the view from the cockpit in 3D (the rest of the cartoon was traditional animation).

At one point a bunch of the mechs fell into a vulcano, but the pilots escaped. As the mechs melted in the lava it was sort of implied they were sentient.

I think that near the end of the series most of the mech battles were shown in 3D.

not a show, but a short. it was about a young girl who goes to the seaside, has fun, goes on a wooden rollercoaster then goes home. Thats it. I think she takes a coach there and at the end shes tired and her parents/grandma take her into the house with her in their arms alseep. think it was done in a particulary ''painty'' style, using either paints or watercolours. I can't for the love of god remember the name, but I know which one you are talking about. I think it was some cartoon about a real life show magician.

The only reason I bother to remember it is because of the terrible dubbing in my country (Denmark).

I think the original show was American, very much in style with Captain Planet, but I'm not huge on the details.

Some Mexican cartoon which involved a creature of indeterminate species (had arms and legs and a head, but nothing to identify it as human, very simply shaped body design) and a very PO'd chicken at some point; I only saw this clip at a flea market, and for some goddamn reason it's stuck with me. I've tried finding this show before in these type of threads to no avail but I feel compelled to keep trying.

Alright, so this was probably a movie rather then a series and I'm pretty sure it was live action with really obvious CGI segments thrown in. I recall a group of teens, each with their own robot, but they didn't combine or anything and for like half the movie they didn't even have weapons. There was an alien woman with them I'm pretty sure, and the bad guy was a floating head. Not a giant floating head, just a head.

I think I saw this some time during the late 90s on ABC Family.

Hard mode, a cartoon about people in a race across the world or the universe, no fucking clue I was like 4 at the time I saw this. It wasn't in cars they were running on foot. The art style was very Don Bluth like. It took place in the early eighties and it might have had anthro characters, all I can remember is a nice ass in short shorts and a guy with blonde curly hair I think. It has musical numbers where they would sing and run at the same time. I cannot for the life of me find any proof this cartoon existed.
