In response to both of you, I guess it's a bit of a wobbly post I'm standing on here.

On one hand I believe that real raves are warehouse style parties that play oldschool happy hard, original hakkuh and super old industrial rave. These are VERY rare these days, in fact I haven't seen anything like it for years.

But on another hand I reckon that a rave is a hardstyle/hardcore/happy hard event where you dress up and lose yourself.

On the other hand (I got lotsa hands bruh) I reckon that a rave by definition has to be a gigantic event such as Qlimax, Mysteryland, Decibel etc. But some of those, such as Defqon, are becoming, by definition, festivals, only they're becoming 'hard dance festivals'.

Point is I'm of varied opinions about it but at no point do I believe that America hosts anything like this.

EDC is laughable. Every little cunt there shuffles to 140bmp 'hardstyle'. They wouldn't know a rave if it smacked them right through their fuckin' head.

genres don't mean SHIT. it's really all about whether or not it's good music. if you ask the artists themselves, i'm sure they'll tell you that they probably don't fit into a singular "genre." they just make music that they think sounds good, no matter who it sounds like or what category it fits into.

My favorite is stuff that cant fit into a genre. Ninja Tune is a favorite record label. Mr Scruff is a favorite producer.

Then you have meta-genres, genres for the stuff that doesnt fit... like braindance, and downtempo... more adjective than genres

One last post in this thread before I go to bed. As an 11 year veteran and 9 year on and off dj in the So Cal rave scene. This shit isn't going anywhere so people who say it's a trend or a fad, I don't know how many fads lasted 20+ years except rock and roll and hip hop and I don't see those going away anytime soon.
